The new Ronald MC Donald house is at the back of Denmark hill train station less than 5min walk from the hospital. When we were there it had 26 rooms open they are still finishing the building so will have more rooms soon. Its like staying in a 4star hotel.
Rooms are clean and new. Most rooms have a TV and when your child is discharged from the hospital they will move you to a bigger room if one is free. They put a spare big mattress on the floor sounds bad but works just fine, all rooms have new bathrooms some have baths and shower the others just have showers. The kitchen is huge and now you get your own press and fridge+freezer space. Attached to the kitchen is a large dinning room with TV. They have a large washing room for clothes, in it they have a number of large washing and drying machines ,ironing bord ,irons. They also have a lift, large TV room with 2 computers ,wi fi it you bring your own laptop.
Reception is 24hr. During the day the girls will print out any travel doc that you book on line. They also booked us a taxi to gatwick. There are another 2 big rooms that have books and a play area for the kids with games, DVDs, colouring etc.
Even when the house is full its never busy most people spend their day at the hospital come home sleep, cook a bit and do some washing. The house is big with plenty of stuff. Computers are always free there is no queue to use the washing machines. There are 4 cookers ,toasters, kettles, dishwashers. It never feels crowded.
The staff are great they will try and help you with anything.

Kings College Hospital
Rays of Sunshine is the ward specialising in paediatric liver disease. On this ward one parent can stay over in a parent bed by the child’s bed. A second parent may need accommodation. There is some charitable accommodation available close to the hospital-see above.
Should your child be in intensive care there are only chairs by the bed. A double room is provided down the corridor from the ICU. It is connected by phone to the ward.
Following ICU most patients go to the Special Care Unit. There is one pull out chair by most of the beds.
